Common Ground is a free nine-week leadership program for young people aged 14–20 who want to get involved, build new skills and make an impact in their community.

Working alongside other young people, participants will design and deliver a community initiative as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, with up to $3,000 in funding available to bring their ideas to life.

Throughout the program, participants will explore topics such as respect, equality and social change while gaining hands-on experience in event planning, budgeting, advocacy, teamwork and community engagement. You'll build your confidence, strengthen your résumé, meet new people and gain practical experience that can support future employment, volunteering and leadership opportunities.

If you've been interested in programs like the Young Women’s Leadership Program, Common Ground offers a similar opportunity to learn and grow, while bringing together young people of all genders to take action on an issue that affects everyone.

No experience is needed - just bring your ideas, enthusiasm and passion for making a difference.

Expression of Interest: Registering your interest in Common Ground does not automatically confirm your place in the program. Places are limited, and we aim to bring together a diverse group of young people with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. The Youth Services team will contact you to confirm your place before the program begins.
